These sets comprise the lower leg and arm bones. The lower leg consists of the tibia and fibula. The tibia is the major weight bearing bone in the lower leg, while the fibula stabilizes the ankle and supports muscles of the lower leg. The bones of the forearm include the ulna and the radius. During pronation, the radius rolls across the ulna to bring the palms down.

While most of the Maxwell Museum's Documented Skeletal Collection does have provenance and signed consent for casting, the cases from their Forensic Collection are primarily unidentified individuals or individuals with no next-of-kin (therefore no direct casting permissions). However, New Mexico law permits such remains (unidentified, unclaimed) to be utilized for teaching and educational purposes.
